Culture and museums: Dramatic theatre. Museum of regional studies (was founded in 1887).

Architecture and remarkables: Kazanskiy cathedral (1832), building of former synagogue (1907), building of former female gymnasium (was founded in 1912, now pedagogical school), former House of social assembly (now Dramatic theatre) atc. There are Aidashinskaya cave 10 km from Achinsk, Achinsk paleolithic site 2 km east of Achinsk.

History:
It was founded in 1641 as Achinsk stockaded town at Bely Iyus r. After the fire in 1683 it was cvarried to Chulym r. at inflowing of small river Achinka into it.

Philharmonic. 2 exhibit halls. Museums: of regional studies with some branches, culture-historical centre, House-museum of V. I. Lenin, Museum-flat of P. A. Krasikov, Museum-estate of V. I. Surikov, The Surikov art museum.

Architecture and remarkables: South-east part of Krasnoyarsk directly adjoins to reservoir Stolby with rocks of whimsical shape. There is a chapel at Karaulnaya hill (was rebuilt in 1854-55) at the place of former Karaulnaya tower of the stockaded town. Architectural monuments: Veil church (1785-95, was restored in 1977-78), Annunciation church (1804-12) etc. Monuments of Siberian architecture kept: former mansions of merchants Gadalovs, of merchant-bibliophile Yudin (the beginning of the 20 c.).

History:
It was founded in 1628 by waywode A. Dubenskiy as stockaded town Krasny Yar for protection from Tartars raids and for 'yasak' duty. Intensive develop of Krasnoyarsk began from construction (1735-41) of Moscow way (Achinsk - Krasnoyarsk - Kansk). In 1756 close to Kansk iron-making plant of merchant Vlasyev was founded. In the 19 c. Krasnoyarsk was the centre of Siberian Cossacks. From 1822 the centre of Yenisei province. In the end of the 19 c. in Krasnoyarsk small enterprises, railway workshops, steam locomotive shed worked. In prewar five-year periods in Krasnoyarsk next large enterprises were built - "Sibtyazhmash", ship-building yard, integrated pulp-and-paper mill, enterprises of light industry, electric power station, port. From 1934 Krasnoyarsk is the centre of Krasnoyarsk territory. During the Great Patriotic War tens plants from forward area were evacuated to Krasnoyarsk.

Architecture and remarkables: There is wooden church (the beginning of the 20 c.) in Olgino village in Uyar raion.

History:
It is known from 1760 when post house and coachman house were built. The settlement grew at the expense of settlers from Latvia, Ukraine, Volga area, Orel province. To the end of the 19 c. in Uyar railway station was built (at Tran-Siberian railway). In 1897 the station Uyarskaya was renamed to Olgino, in 1906 to Klyukvennaya (by the name of railway engineer). Gradually the station and Uyar village mecame one populated area. Incorporated from 1944. In 1973 the station Klyukvennaya was renamed to Uyar. In Uyar next enterprises were opened: in 1922 brick plant, in 1926 Klyukvenny plant of refractories (on the base of opencast deposits of refractory clays), in 1948 shop of mica plucking, after Uyar miva factory, in 1958 plant of concrete product was built, in 1975 asphalt-concrete plant.

History:
It was founded in 1628 as Kansk small stockaded town near Komarovskie rapids at Kan (now Komarovka village), 43 km lower the modern place. In 1640 the stockaded town was moved to the present place. Regular Russian population appeared in 1717. From the middle of the 18 c. it was of importance in transite trade (at Moscow road). Incorporated from 1782. In the end of the 19 c. most Kansk people were engaged in crop-growing and anilmal husbandry, in summer many of them went to gold-mines.

It was founded in 1645. In 1733 Siberia-Moscow road ran via Ilanskiy. It began to develop in 1894 owing to construction of the railway and the circumstance that neighbouring Kansk (its trade-industrial upper crust grew at gold boom in the second half of the 19 c.) refused to placed in own city rail transport infrastructure (depot, workshops).

The only place in all Russia that one cannot pass moving by any way by railway from Europe and Western Siberia to east, to Asia and Far East.

Ones breed catlle, goats, sheep, pigs, horses. Deposits of lignite, tantalum ore etc.

Culture and museums: There is House-museum of Soviet Union heroes Zoya and Alexander Kosmodemyanskiy in Shitkino settlement (they lived here in 1929-30).

History:
It sprang up in 1897 as small village. Handy position at railway close to big river determined the role of Taishet as administrative and trade centre.

Economics: Mice factory. Enterprises of wood industry and rail transport. Plants: "Translespromzdanie" (buildings of container type), of road-building materials. Enterprises of food industry: brewery, confectionery, dairy plant, meat-preserving factory. In Nizhneudinsk raion grain-crops (mainly for fodder), potatoes, vegetables etc. are grown. Dairy and meat animal husbandry, pig breeding. Deposits of coal, gold, silver, zinc, lead, manganese, molybdenum, quartzite, copper, iron etc.

Architecture and remarkables: Nikolskaya church. There is Uk waterfall (the height is 20 m) downstream Uda r., 18 km from Nizhneudinsk. There are Nizhneudinsk caves 75 km upstream Uda, south of Nizhneudinsk, 460 metres above level of the river.

History:
It was founded in 1648 by Russian Cossacks as Pokrovskiy Gorodok. In 1649 a small stockaded town sprang up from 1664 stockaded town did. Incorporated from 1783. Long time Nizhneudinsk was an exchange-trade point: gold, animal husbandry products. Ones exported provisions, clothes, hunting ammunition.

It was founded in the second half of the 18 c. In 19 c. wayside village Tulun. In the beginning of the 20 c., after laying of railway, Tulun was the significant trade point.

History:
Irkutsk takes up the territory more 300 sq. km. It was laid by the gropu of Russian explorers headed by boyar son Yakov Pokhabov and first it was small wooden fortress. The stockaded town sprang up at high non-callow bank and occupied the cape formed by the bend of Angara r. and the mouth of Ushakovka r. named Ida in that time. Upbuilt at "pleasing place" Irkutsk stockaded town prepossesed at them who were in it. In 1675 the minister to China Nikolay Spafariy went via it and wrote "... stockaded town is good by its structure, and more than 40 dwelling Cossack and civil homesteads are there and the palce is very granary".
Already in 1682 the stockaded town became the centre of waywodedom,  in 1686 it wasincorporated and the blazon was confirmed and 4 years later the stamp was granted.
Favourable geographic position of Irkutsk contrubuted to its formation. From joining to Russia in the XVII-XVIII c.c. huge territory up to Pacific ocean Irkutsk found itself in the centre of numerous trade ways of the all Eastern Siberia. From 1803 to 1822 Irkutsk was the centre of the largest territory of Russia by are for all its history (of cource, excluding its capitals - Moscow and Saint-Petersburg) - Irkutsk general province, in which besides Eastern Siberia, Far East, Chukotka and Alaska were in.
Decembrists exercised great influence on cultural development of the city. All goups of exiles leaving through Baikal stopped in Irkutsk. Here for some monthes remarkable Russian women waited for permission for trip to theirs husbands (Decembrists). Decembrists completed hard labour were settles in villages around Irkutsk. later Trubetskoy and Volkonskiy families lived in the city. In the second half of the XVIII c. the city had significant scientific potential. Here E. G. Laksman, the disciple of M. V. Lomonosov, worked. Siberian branch of Russian geographic society opened in Irkutsk in 1851 had great significant in science development. In the 80-th years participants of revolutionary events in Poland, later prominent scientists of Russia V. I. Dybovskiy, A. L. Chekanovskiy, I. D. Cherskiy were its members. They studied Baikal and Lena. Here distinguished scinetist, researcher of Siberia V. A. Obrichev worked. In Irkutsk first in eastern Siberia a large telescope appeared ordered in 1909 from Germany for money gathered by subscription.

History:
From of old there was a small monastery or 'skit' at the mouth of Filaretov brook (by the name of hermit Filaret). Later the monastery transformed to Skit settlement. In 1888 Krasnoyarsk monastery was founded on the place of modern Divnogorsk. The settlement of Krasnoyarsk hydropower station builders arose on the Yenisei bank near the hydropower station. In 1957 both settlements were united to Divnogorsk.

Architecture and remarkables: The city consists from some raions which are distant one from one dozens kilometres.

History:
It sprang up in 1955 owing to construction Bratsk hydro-power station north to Bratsk settlement sprung up as an stockaded town in 1631 in the mouth of Oka r. which was flooded by Bratsk reservoir. The name of Bratsk stockaded town is from transformed ethnicon Buryats to 'braty' (brothers). After loss of war meaning stockaded town turned to Bratsko-Ostrozhnoe village, later Bratskoe, later Bratsk. Owing to construction Bratsk reservoir Bratsk village was moved to the new place and in 1951 transformed to work settlement. In 1955 it was united with number of others Russian settlements to Bratsk city.

History:
It sprang up (1948 or the 17th c. ???) as Korshunikha settlement near deposit of iron ore at Zheleznaya hill. The settlement was named by Korshunikha r. (right tributary of Ilim) which was named in honor of discoverer of the deposit Russian ore-finder Shestak Korshunov (the 17th c.).  In the 1950th owing to beginning of modern extraction of ore it gave worker settlement status and the name Zheleznogorsk. In 1965 it was transformed to the city named Zheleznogorsk-Ilimskiy for difference between Zheleznogorsk city (Kursk region). In 1965 Korshunovskiy mine concentrating mill was into operation.

Architecture and remarkables: There is a balneo-mud health resort 3 km far from the city. Sanatorium, hydromudpathic. The mineral sources were discovered in the 17th c. by Russian pathfinder Ye. P. Khabarov. It's used medicinally from 1908. The health resort was founded in 1925.

History:
In 1631 Russian pathfinders lead by ataman Ivan Galkin founded Ust'-Kut stockaded town close to the mouth of Kuta r. The hydronim Kuta is connected with a character of river valley: Tungus "kuta" is a peatery, squashy ground, mire. In the middle of the 17th c. the stockaded town lost its war meaning and it became an important pier where cargo going from Ishim and Upper Lena flocked. The city was created by the union of Ust'-Kut and Osetrovo settlements in 1954.
